Over more than two decades as a recording artist, Hiromi has developed a wide-ranging career that has moved fluidly between jazz, fusion, classical influences, and film music. Her work has included a widely viewed NPR Tiny Desk Concert, a performance representing Japan at the 2021 Tokyo Summer Olympics, and a 2024 Japanese Academy Award for Best Music Score for the animated feature Blue Giant. She is also a Grammy Award winner for her collaboration with bassist Stanley Clarke.
Hiromi released Sonicwonderland in 2023, introducing the ensemble known as Hiromi’s Sonicwonder. The group features bassist Hadrien Feraud, drummer Gene Coye, and trumpeter Adam O’Farrill. The project blends elements of jazz-rock fusion, classical technique, funk, pop, and contemporary acoustic jazz, reflecting Hiromi’s ongoing interest in expanding the boundaries of the form.
Additional information about the performance and ticketing is available at the JazzYYC website.
