SISTER ACT to Rock Stagecrafters' Main Stage

Stagecrafters kicks off its 62nd Main Stage season on September 8th with the musical comedy Sister Act, which runs from September 8th through October 1st on the Main Stage, located at the Baldwin Theatre, 415 S. Lafayette Ave., Royal Oak, MI 48067.

Sister Act tells the story of nightclub singer Deloris Van Cartier, aka Sister Mary Clarence, who hides out in a convent after witnessing a murder by her mobster boyfriend. Now she's on his hit list, and her life depends on being able to blend in with the nuns. To her surprise, she finds that sisterhood runs deep. Sister Act is rated PG and runs approximately 1 hour 40 minutes.

Sister Act features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Glenn Slate and a book by Cheri and Bill Steinkellner with additional book material by Douglas Carter Beane. It is based on the 1992 hit movie Sister Act written by Joseph Howard. This toe-tapping musical opened on Broadway on April 20, 2011 and was nominated for five Tony Awards including Best Musical. Stagecrafters production is directed by Rodel Salazar of Madison Heights, Mich.

Patrons attending the September 8th opening night performance are invited to a complimentary pre-glow of hors d'oeuvres from 7:00 to 7:45 pm.

Show tickets are $23 on Thursdays, $26.50 on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Tickets may be purchased online at stagecrafters.org (online handling fees apply) or by phone at 248-541-6430 using Visa or MasterCard. All seats are reserved and there are no refunds or exchanges on individual tickets. If shows have not sold out, tickets can be purchased at the box office one hour prior to the performance. Student, military and senior discounts are available for specific performances. The Baldwin Theatre is located at 415 S. Lafayette in downtown Royal Oak.

Stagecrafters, a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit community theatre, is in its 62nd year of providing opportunities for members of the community to develop their talents and to volunteer their time to create an enriching, quality theatrical experience through its Main Stage, 2nd Stage, and Youth Theatre productions.
