Planet Ant Set To Close Season With APPROPRIATE

Planet Ant is set to close out its 2017-18 season with Appropriate by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins April 27 - May 19 at Planet Ant Black Box Theatre. Tickets ($10-$20) are on sale now at www.planetant.com or in person 30 minutes prior to show time at the theatre box office.

Every estranged member of the Lafayette family has descended upon the crumbling Arkansas homestead to settle the accounts of the newly-dead patriarch. As his three adult children sort through a lifetime of hoarded mementos and junk, they collide over clutter, debt, and a contentious family history. After a disturbing discovery surfaces among their father's possessions, the reunion takes a turn for the explosive, unleashing a series of crackling surprises and confrontations. Appropriate is the winner of the 2014-2015 Obie Award for Best New American Play.

Appropriate by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins is directed by Joe Bailey with Brandy Joe Plambeck as Stage Manager and Jennifer Maiseloff doing set Design. Joe Bailey and Brandy Joe Plambeck are co-founders of The Ringwald Theatre in Ferndale. "We're very excited to produce another play directed by one of the Ringwald guys," said Shawn Handlon, Planet Ant Artistic Director. "It helps to build camaraderie within the Detroit theater community while exposing our theater to their audience and our audience to their theater."

Appropriate features Melissa Beckwith, Jaclynn Cherry, Meredith Deighton, Forrest Gabel, Kelly Ann Komlen, Joel Mitchell, Shane Nelson, and Donny Riedel. It will run in the Planet Ant Black Box Theatre April 27 - May 19 with performances at 8:00pm Friday and Saturday evenings and 6:00pm performances on Sunday May 6 and May 13.
