Firehouse Theater Company presents The Cake, written by Bekah Brunstetter and directed by Troy Lakey, running May 30 through June 28, 2026 at the John Hand Theater. When Della, a baker in North Carolina, discovers that the girl she helped raise wants to marry another woman, she is forced to confront her faith and think for herself for the first time. The production stars Kelly Uhlenhopp as Della, Nicole Kaiser as Jen, Jessica Eckenrod as Macy, and Jeff Jesmer as Tim. Blending humor and compassion, the play explores how empathy can exist even when deeply held beliefs divide people who love one another.
