Jazz Organ Blues is a Colorado Jazz Repertory Orchestra program exploring the history and evolution of the Hammond B-3 organ in jazz, tracing its roots from early players like Fats Waller through the instrument's defining moment in the 1950s with Jimmy Smith. The program blends blues, swing, and hard bop in the tradition of artists such as Jimmy McGriff and Shirley Scott. CJRO Artistic Director Drew Zaremba leads the performance on organ, joined by Steve Kovalcheck on guitar, Jim White on drums, and vocalist Tatiana LadyMay Mayfield.
