Saturday Discovery Classes Announced At PNC Arts Annex

Victoria Theatre Association's Education & Engagement department hosts a fun, imaginative, six-week session of SATURDAY DISCOVERY CLASSES at the new PNC ARTS ANNEX in downtown Dayton.

Classes include acting, dancing and creative play instruction for kids ages 7 and up, including a SENSORY ADVENTURE CLASS focused specifically on youth age 13-18 with Autism and related disabilities.

SATURDAY DISCOVERY CLASSES

Located in the new PNC ARTS ANNEX, VTA's SATRUDAY DISCOVERY CLASSES are taught by trained, local arts professionals and are full of fun activities such as acting, dancing and creative play.

IMAGINATORS! - (ages 7-11), 9-9:45 a.m. or 10-10:45 a.m.

In IMAGINATORS! the entire classroom is transformed into an environment where anything is possible, and everyone is welcome! Students will get lost in imaginative storytelling and exploring the world of the theatre arts. With costumes, props, acting techniques, and specialized movement, the students will create new twists with well-known stories from beginning to end.

IMAGINATORS! REMIX - (ages 7-11), 9-9:45 a.m. or 10-10:45 a.m.

In IMAGINATORS! REMIX, creativity meets choreography in this fast-paced environment where participants learn storytelling through dance. Using a variety of music styles, participants will learn contemporary dance techniques and performance etiquette. Previous dance training not required.

BROADWAY REMIX - (ages 11 and up), 11-11:45 a.m.

Think you have what it takes to learn choreography on the spot to some of Broadway's hottest songs? Bring it and bring a friend, too. This class is carefully crafted for beginning dancers and their friends to learn together. Participants will learn proper dance technique to perform choreography from a Broadway show.

ACTING OFF-THE-CUFF - (ages 12 and up), 11-11:45 a.m.

In ACTING OFF-THE-CUFF, students will sharpen their comedic and dramatic skills by discovering new acting techniques and experiencing the benefits of being in an ensemble. This class offers a unique approach to acting that engages participants through a variety of scenarios and theatre games!

SENSORY ADVENTURE - (ages 13-18), 1-2:30 p.m.

The SENSORY ADVENTURE CLASS series is a unique program for young adults with autism spectrum disorder. Each of the six Saturday classes will focus on different aspects of theatre, including technical theatre, improvisation, devising, writing, puppetry, and more. Class session culminates in a sharing for friends and family. Brighter Connections Theatre teaching artists will be assisting in each session.

Each six-week session is held in the PNC ARTS ANNEX. IMAGINATORS!, IMAGINATORS! REMIX, BROADWAY REMIX and ACTING OFF-THE-CUFF are $75 per six-week session. The fee for the SENSORY ADVENTURE CLASS session is $100.
