About this studio
Ballet Folklorico en Aztlan is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dance theatre company and academy whose stated mission is to preserve, promote, create and educate about Indigenous dance and culture. Directed by Viviana Enrique, it teaches Mexican folklorico and Indigenous dance, and mounts signature productions such as its Zapateados program. Classes are held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the La Mesa Adult Enrichment Center, with a BFA Kids class for ages 4 and up and a combined BFA Youth and Adults class for ages 13 and up; classes are $14 each or $100 for an eight-class package. Experienced dancers may audition to join the performing company, with no rehearsal or production fees charged. The organization is a San Diego Unified School District VAPA arts partner, offers ongoing classes at schools and other organizations, runs one-off workshops, and takes bookings for community performances.
