Virginia Dance Center

Virginia Dance Center has taught in Manassas since 1999 and moved into its own freestanding building in January 2007, with two large sprung-floor studios, observation windows, a student dressing room, a parents' waiting area and a sibling playroom. The studio runs over 50 classes a week for all ages and abilities and is explicitly non-competitive, emphasizing correct technique alongside creative expression and building confidence and a positive self-image. Programs progress from Pre-School classes for ages 3-5, through Foundations for ages 5-7 and 7-plus, to Classics for Level 2 and above covering ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical and pointe; hip hop starts at age 5 and adult classes in tap, hip hop, ballet/lyrical and jazz are open to anyone 18 or over. Each year VDC stages a storyline production at the Hylton Performing Arts Center featuring all its dancers, and it also runs a six-week summer session plus summer camps and workshops for dancers aged 3-12. A free trial class is offered to new students.
