Dance classes in Silver Spring, Maryland
Urban Artistry, Inc. is a non-profit culture and education project based at 11301 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, Maryland, where it moved in late 2025 while marking its twentieth year. It teaches urban and street dance forms in their cultural context, with a weekly semester schedule that includes Breakin' on Mondays, Krump on Wednesdays and Whacking/Punking on Thursdays, alongside popping, locking, house and Memphis jookin studied through its Funk in Focus pedagogy. The Funkateers youth program runs three days a week for children aged roughly five to twelve, with youth battles for ages six to sixteen. Urban Artistry also stages workshops, jams and the International Soul Society Festival, and its dancers compete in national and international street dance battles. It receives support from the Maryland State Arts Council, Montgomery County and the National Endowment for the Arts.
