The Legacy Dance Studio operates from the Tuscan Village Shoppes at 3510 S. Nova Road in Port Orange, Florida, serving the Port Orange, Daytona Beach and New Smyrna Beach areas. Owner and choreographer Shannon Thomas directs the school, which teaches ages 3 to 18 and divides classes by age, ability and style. The program covers pre-ballet, tap and tumbling for the youngest dancers, then ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary and leaps and turns, with an emphasis on proper technique and progression in a disciplined but enjoyable setting. Facilities include a professional floating Stagestep floor, Vita Vibe ballet barres, dressing rooms and a spacious lobby. Students perform at community events and an annual showcase at the News Journal Center in Daytona, and the studio runs the Legacy Stars competitive team.
