Terpsichore Dance Company

Terpsichore Dance is a long-established studio at 176 NW Broad Street in downtown Southern Pines, North Carolina, above the ice cream parlour, and describes 30 years of teaching in the Moore County area. It takes children from age 3 to 18 and teaches classical ballet and pointe, jazz, tap, contemporary and acro. Classes are organized in three tiers: Tier 1 for ages 3 to 6 begins with 45-minute ballet and creative movement at age 3 and moves into hour-long ballet/tap combinations; Tier 2 for ages 7 to 10 adds jazz and longer class times; and Tier 3 for ages 11 to 18 is placed by staff evaluation on age and technical ability and comprises Senior Company, Apprentices and Ensemble, with twice-weekly ballet plus contemporary, tap, jazz and Pilates. Acro and additional jazz are available as add-on classes. The studio stages an annual Nutcracker and a spring recital, offers master classes with guest teachers and performance trips, and sells a paid Try-It trial class as an intro program.
