About this studio
Simply Social Dancing teaches partner-based social dance to adults in northern New Jersey, with the stated aim of letting people enjoy the simple pleasure of dancing with someone. Its website is written for the self-conscious beginner - the person who sits at a party watching a couple glide around the floor and assumes they could never join in - and makes the case that everyone has danced in some form and that expressing yourself when the music moves you feels good. The instruction focuses on partnering rather than choreography: the studio describes social dancing as an experience in which two people create a dance unique to them in response to whatever music is playing. The site is thin on class detail, but presents lessons as accessible to complete newcomers.
