About this studio
Philadelphia Youth Dance Fest (PYDF) is a non-competitive youth dance festival rather than a teaching studio, run by the Youth Dance Fest organization with support from the Philadelphia Cultural Fund. The Philadelphia edition takes place at Drexel University in March, and a companion Lehigh Valley festival runs at Muhlenberg College in May. Participating youth companies apply for a place and each performs one piece of up to four and a half minutes in a professional theatre with full lighting and sound, open to the public. Dancers also take four to six master classes across the three days, taught by professional teachers, plus optional Friday evening ballet or contemporary technique and scholarship audition classes that offer places on summer dance programs. Fees cover performance, classes, a festival T-shirt and access to professional photography and video.
