Offices of Los Angeles Ballet

City Ballet of Los Angeles (CBLA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) ballet school and company in Los Angeles, founded by artistic director Robyn Gardenhire, a native Angeleno and former dancer with American Ballet Theatre, Cleveland Ballet, Joffrey II, the White Oak Project and Karol Armitage. She established the school specifically to bring concert dance training to economically and socially disadvantaged students, and is a founding member of ABT's Diversity Board and the School of American Ballet Alumni Board. CBLA runs an Open School for ages 3 to 12 - Tiny Tots, Creative Dance, Pre-Ballet and Ballet I, covering ballet, yoga and modern - and an audition-only Emerging Artist Program for ages 6 to 16, levelled by age group, teaching ballet, modern, pointe and variations with performance opportunities. Modern classes follow the Horton technique. The organization also runs an outreach program in Los Angeles elementary schools, offering movement workshops, six-week residencies and full semesters of classes with a culminating performance.
