Nutmeg Conservatory For The Arts

The Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory at 58 Main Street in Torrington, Connecticut was founded in 1969 by Sharon E. Dante as a single-room studio and has grown over five decades into an internationally known center for pre-professional classical ballet training and performance. It is now led by Artistic Director Victoria Mazzarelli. Its year-round programs, accredited by the National Association of Schools of Dance, prepare select middle school, high school and post-high-school students for professional careers, supported by on-campus residency life and the Conservatory Academic Program for schooling alongside training. Summer intensives mirror the year-round curriculum with individual attention and performance opportunities. Community offerings include a Children's Division for ages 3-12, adult and teen classes, and an adaptive dance program. Students perform a full season including The Nutcracker, a spring performance series and graduation performances, on major stages and in the conservatory's own theatre.
