About this studio
Momentum Dance Company is a contemporary and modern dance company based in Coconut Grove, Miami, founded in 1982 by artistic director Delma Iles and described as one of the oldest and most established contemporary companies in the south-eastern United States. It has operated continuously since, reaching audiences through the Miami Dance Festival, concert seasons, free performances for children, residencies in public schools and at Artz-n-the-Hood in Liberty City, community events and touring. The company is a multiethnic group of dancers performing a varied repertory that includes historic modern works by Jose Limon, Doris Humphrey and Anna Sokolow alongside pieces by Iles. It was the first modern company appointed to the Florida Department of State touring program.
