Lauries School of Dance

Laurie's School of Dance (LSOD) has provided dance education since 1968 and uses the tagline Educating & Creating for 59 Years, teaching in Hugo, Minnesota. The school divides its program into recreational classes, ballet, a competitive track and summer dance. Recreational classes run from September through May and focus on stretching and across-the-floor work, with options in jazz choreography and technique, ballet and ballet choreography, tap choreography and technique, plus optional lyrical and hip hop; every class learns choreographed routines and performs in the school's spring recital in May. Classes are grouped by level and suggested age, beginning with Pre-School Creative Movement combining ballet and tap for ages 2-4 and 3-5, then Level 1 to Level 3 jazz-and-tap combo classes and a teen combo for ages 12 and up. Classical ballet is taught in three levels covering barre and center work, and there are mini and junior hip hop classes and a mini lyrical class. A Pre Comp class for ages 5-9 introduces dancers to competition with one spring competition. All LSOD classes are open to both boys and girls, and the 2026-2027 season begins the week of 14 September.
