Laasya School of Dance

Laasya School of Dance was founded in 2001 by Rohini Herur and teaches Bharatanatyam, the classical Indian dance form, in the Rancho Bernardo area of San Diego, California. The school is dedicated to promoting an art form it describes as transcending age, race, religion and nationality, and states a commitment to the purity of the tradition while also incorporating a contemporary approach. Both group and private lessons are offered to students of all levels and ages, with group sizes deliberately kept small so that each dancer receives individual attention; the school emphasises a one-to-one approach and a comfortable, enjoyable learning environment. Students perform regularly at community and cultural venues around San Diego, including events run by Kasturi Kannada Sangha San Diego, the San Diego Malayalee Association and the IFAASD Music & Dance Festival, and the school stages an annual production, Naatya. It is associated with the Laasya Fine Arts Foundation.
