About this studio
Jorday Rivera's Dance Studio, established in 1997 at 102-19 Metropolitan Ave in Forest Hills, Queens, is best known in the New York area for salsa/Latin and belly dance, and draws students from Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan and Long Island. It welcomes toddlers, teens and adults across a very wide syllabus: Salsa/Mambo On 2, merengue, bachata, cha cha, belly dance, ballroom, ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, modern, lyrical, tango, Brazilian samba, breaking, burlesque, pole dancing, Zumba and dance fitness, with newer K-Pop classes for kids and youth/teen salsa. The premises include waiting areas with viewing windows, three to four ballrooms, changing areas, dance boutiques and an office for private consultations on weddings, sweet sixteens and other events. Students perform at an annual Dance Recital Extravaganza and some compete at national events; the studio also runs a competition team and a summer dance intensive.
