Greater York Ctr For Dance Education

Greater York Dance, the Greater York Center for Dance Education, is a York County, Pennsylvania school offering ballet, pointe, modern, hip hop, breakdancing, musical theatre, jazz, tap, conditioning and performance training for ages 2 to 102. Every class follows a written syllabus, and the center stresses continuing education for its instructors and individual attention to each student's technique. It presents both commercial and concert dance, staging classical and contemporary ballets, story ballets, modern works, studio showcases and emerging choreographer concerts, and it is the home of The Hip Nut, presented at the Appell Center for the Performing Arts. The school takes a college-preparatory approach with K-12 dancers, preparing them for cruise ships, theme parks, music videos and professional companies; students have earned college scholarships and placed at Youth America Grand Prix. Staff also create choreography for college auditions, dance teams, musicals and talent shows, and have staged flash mobs for local organizations.
