About this studio
Excel Dance Center has operated since 2004 as a non-competitive performing arts studio at 6775 West Q Avenue in the Texas Corners area of Kalamazoo/Portage, Michigan. Its renovated 7,000 square foot building holds four studios with sprung wood floors, viewing windows and a lounge. Excel teaches ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, lyrical, gym, musical theatre and Zumba to students aged two through adult, alongside performance teams including Company, Junior Company, Solo Team, XLR8, XP Training Track and XPRESSION. Instructors attend regional and national conventions to refresh material, and the studio stresses age-appropriate music and costuming. Excel is a YPAD-certified Safer Studio and is affiliated with the National Honor Society for Dance Arts. It also runs summer and winter camps, private lessons and birthday parties.
