Chehalis Ballet Center

Southwest Washington Dance Center has been bringing dance to Lewis County since 1982 and operates from 437 N Market Boulevard in Chehalis, Washington. It is a non-profit dance center that relies on community support and donations, and it has received grant funding from ArtsWA, the Washington State Arts Commission, to support inclusive dance education and performance in the region. Classes are offered for all ages and levels and cover classical ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, tap, hip hop, lyrical, creative movement, parent/toddler classes, men's and adult ballet, acro, rhythmic gymnastics and tumbling. The studio holds a monthly observation week so families can watch their dancers' progress, and instructors film recital previews, combinations and technique work for its YouTube channel. Its main annual production is The Nutcracker, and donation-funded scholarships provide tuition support to dancers who cannot otherwise afford classes.
