About this studio
Brooklyn Music School is a 501(c)(3) non-profit center for music, dance and the performing arts at 126 St Felix Street in Brooklyn, and has been operating for over a century, with a Playhouse centennial being marked on its site. Programming is designed for all ages and experience levels and includes private lessons, early childhood classes, the Arts Reaching Youth afterschool enrichment program for ages 5-11, youth group classes and ensembles, year-round adult classes, music therapy, camps and community outreach. Dance sits mainly within its theatre offerings: 'Act! Dance! Sing!' for ages 5-6 introduces singing, dancing and acting using songs and choreography from Broadway musicals, teaching stage directions and basic dance steps, while a Fall Musical Theatre Workshop for ages 8-14 leads to public performances. Financial aid and scholarships are available.
