About this studio
Company XIV is a New York performance company founded and artistically directed by Austin McCormick, now marking 20 years of work. It creates adults-only Baroque burlesque spectacles that blend dance, circus and aerial work, opera and live singing, cabaret, magic and variety, performed by classically trained artists in opulent costume. The company is Drama Desk-nominated and best known for its perennial Nutcracker Rouge; its current world premiere, Petite Rouge, reimagines Perrault's Little Red Riding Hood. It performs at Theatre XIV, its own venue at 383 Troutman Street in Bushwick, Brooklyn, a chandeliered, velvet-lined room where performers serve champagne and bespoke cocktails between acts, and which also hosts tarot and lipstick readings in an adjoining speakeasy.
