Dance classes in Berkeley, California
Berkeley Ballet (BBT) is a non-profit ballet school and performing organization at 1370 Tenth Street, Berkeley, California. Its Pre-Ballet Division serves ages 2 to 7 with age-appropriate lessons that build a foundation for later study, while the Youth Division for ages 6 to 18 (entered via a placement class) offers a rigorous classical curriculum informed by a modern approach to movement and an explicit emphasis on healthy body image and physical wellbeing. A pre-professional Studio Company for ages 12 to 18 performs in BBT's own programming and in collaborations with the SF Girls Chorus, Berkeley Symphony and BAMPFA. Other offerings include a free boys' class for ages 8 to 14, an Adult Open Division for ages 13 and up spanning absolute beginner to professional, Rhythm & Motion dance-based workout classes for all ages, and free Dance for PD classes for community members affected by Parkinson's disease. The school runs summer classes, tuition assistance and scholarships, and presents The Nutcracker Bird and a Spring Showcase.
