Usher, a Black, queer man, writes a musical about a Black, queer man writing a musical, wrestling with the thoughts in his head brought to life by a hilarious ensemble. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and Best Book of a Musical, this Pulitzer Prize-winning work dives into identity, self-perception, and artistic struggle. Directed by Jeremy Rashad Brown, the cast includes Christian Brown as Usher, with Kali Jupiter, Alyssa Harris, Jenna Clayborn, Tommie Jackson, Beauregard Elliot, and Deitrich Calhoun as the Thoughts. Bold and heartfelt, the musical is described as raw, incisive, and deeply human.
