MainStage Irving-Las Colinas Will Present THE GODS OF COMEDY by Ken Ludwig

MainStage Irving-Las Colinas has announced the cast, creative team, and performance dates for their upcoming production of The Gods of Comedy, a new comedy by Ken Ludwig.

The Ivy League will never be the same as a pair of screwball deities encounters the carnal complexity of college coeds, campus capers, and conspicuous consumption. The Gods of Comedy is the hilarious story of Daphne and Ralph, young classics professors who have just made a discovery that's sure to turn them into academic superstars. But something goes disastrously wrong, and Daphne cries out in a panic, "Save me, gods of ancient Greece!"…and the gods actually appear!

Ken Ludwig's The Gods of Comedy was first produced as a co-production between McCarter Theatre Center for the Performing Arts in Princeton, NJ and The Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, CA. It opened at McCarter Theatre Center on March 16, 2019, and at The Olde Globe Theatre on May 16, 2019.  Broadway Street Review said, "The jokes flow fast and furious" and Town Topics called it "witty and refreshing."

Ken Ludwig may well be the most performed playwright of his generation. He has had six productions on Broadway and eight in London's West End. His 34 plays and musicals are staged around the world and throughout the United States every night of the year. They have been produced in over 20 languages in more than 30 countries, and many have become standards of the American repertoire. His first play, Lend Me a Tenor, won two Tony Awards and was called “one of the classic comedies of the 20th century” by The Washington Post. Crazy For You was on Broadway for five years, on the West End for three, and won the Tony and Olivier Awards for Best Musical. It has been revived twice in London, most recently in 2023.

Don't miss your chance to see this madcap comedy, running from June 12-27, 2026 at the Irving Arts Center (3333 N. MacArthur Blvd, Irving). Single tickets range from $26.50 to $33.50 and are available for purchase through the Irving Arts Center Box Office (www.IrvingArtsCenter.com • 972-252-2787). Patrons with ticketing questions should contact the Irving Arts Center Box Office at 972-252-2787.
