AMON! THE ULTIMATE TEXAN To Make Dallas Debut At Winspear Opera House
Kelvin Dilks stars in the Connie Sanchez-directed production at Winspear's Hamon Hall.
AMON! The Ultimate Texan will make its Dallas debut with three performances on June 27 and 28, 2026, at Winspear Opera House’s Hamon Hall. The one-man play explores the life of Amon G. Carter Sr., a prominent Texas publisher and civic figure closely associated with Fort Worth.
Written by Dave Lieber, directed by Connie Sanchez, and starring Kelvin Dilks, the production has previously been staged more than 70 times across multiple cities. The Dallas engagement marks the first time the work will be presented in the city.
The play focuses on Carter’s career as a publisher, aviation advocate, and early figure in radio and television journalism, as well as his role in promoting Fort Worth. The production also draws on the historical rivalry between Fort Worth and Dallas, positioning the Dallas run as a notable extension of the show’s reach.
“Dallas audiences are about to meet one of Texas’ most unforgettable characters—and I can’t wait to introduce him,” said Lieber.
The limited engagement will bring the production to Dallas audiences for the first time, following performances in more than a dozen cities.
