One of the strangest coincidences of modern musical theatre is the fact that its two foremost composers, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Stephen Sondheim, share a birthday, March 22.
To honor these men and their unparalleled contributions to the Great White Way, an array of Broadway’s brightest stars will perform all your favorite songs, and perhaps even introduce you to some new gems!
Coming together for this one-night-only event will be “the Voice of Broadway,” the Tony-winning legend Betty Buckley, Center favorite Liz Callaway, Alex Joseph Grayson (direct from the acclaimed new revival of Parade), along with stars Aaron Lazar and Kerry O’Malley – who just recently spread holiday cheer in our Cabaret Series with the Broadway Hollywood Holiday Songbook!
No doubt about it, this birthday bash is going to be a present for every Broadway lover in southern California.

A talented collection of Broadway vets led by Tony winner Betty Buckley gathered together for a one-night-only concert 'A BROADWAY BIRTHDAY: SONDHEIM, LLOYD WEBBER, AND FRIENDS' at Segerstrom Concert Hall on March 28, 2024 to celebrate the legacy—and coincidental same birthdate—of musical theater royalty Andrew Lloyd Webber and Stephen Sondheim.
In December 2023, the OC welcomed back two powerhouse vocalists who each gave their own respective holiday-themed concerts: Broadway fave Megan Hilty at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa; and recording artist Linda Eder at the Irvine Barclay Theatre. To no one's surprise, both entertained and awed with their spectacular talents.
The season will start with Broadway vocal sensation Jessica Vosk, known for her knockout performances in Wicked and Fiddler on the Roof, singing a program called California Dreamin’ on Friday, September 29 at 8 PM. Then Emmy Award® and Tony Award®-winning star Mandy Patinkin is in concert with Being Alive with Adam Ben-David on Piano on Thursday, November 2 at 8 PM.
Segerstrom Center for the Arts willpresent an exceptional lineup of breathtaking dance performances, captivating headliner shows, and engaging in conversation series that will leave audiences inspired and mesmerized. Learn more about the lineup here!
