The Ridgefield Theater Barn, in conjunction with the Innocence Project, and underwritten by the Taylor-Zemo Foundation, will be opening its 58th season with The Exonerated on Friday, September 9th. Written by Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen, The Exonerated interweaves the true-life stories of people who were wrongfully convicted and sentenced to death, emphasizing what happened in their lives after their convictions. Told with humor, anger, faith, frustration, and hope, this stunningly powerful piece amassed awards when it debuted Off-Broadway in 2000, including the Lucille Lortel and Drama Desk Awards, both for Unique Theatrical Experience, as well as the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway play.Directed by Elizabeth Young and featuring Chris Cooney, George Croom, Kendall Driffin, David Fritsch, Timothy Huber, Kevin Knight, Paulette Layton, Matt Pagliaro, Priscilla Squiers, and David Tate, the play is presented without intermission Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 8pm, September 9th through the 25th, with Sunday matinees at 5pm on September 18th and 25th. Due to adult themes and language, it is recommended for mature audiences. A talkback after one of the performances is being planned and details will be available on the theater website. The Ridgefield Theater Barn is located at 37 Halpin Lane. Seating is cabaret-style, and the audience is invited to bring food and drinks. Concessions are also available in the lobby. Doors open one hour prior to curtain.
