Off-Broadway Hit A ROOM OF MY OWN Opens 9/22 at The Seven Angels Theatre

By:

After a sold out run at The Abingdon Theatre in NYC earlier this year, Charles Messina's hysterical nostalgia piece A ROOM OF MY OWN, about growing up in a one room apartment in Greenwich Village in the 70s, opens a limited run at The Seven Angels Theatre in Waterbury, Conn. Previews begin September 22nd.

A Room of My Own received glowing notices in nearly every major NY publication when it opened back in February. It was featured on national television shows such as The Today Show, Extra, and The View. The NY run sold out in days becoming the highest grossing show in the 23 year history of The Abingdon Theatre. Celebrities such as Whoopi Goldberg, Chazz Palmintieri, Burt Young, Tony Danza, Lance Bass, Meredith Vieira and Joy Behar turned out to see the show. Goldberg and her company soon after came on board to Executive Produce the show as a sitcom for television.

The original Off Bway cast featured Ralph Macchio and Mario Cantone. For the Seven Angels run many from the original cast return to reprise their roles, including Joli Tribuzio, Johnny Tammaro, and Liza Vann. The rest of the stellar cast has been retooled with major talents from TV and Broadway, such as Rescue Me's Michael Lombardi and Person of Interest's David Valcin. Fresh off the Broadway run of Finding Neverland, Christian Michael Camporin also joins the cast. And, in a bit of inspired casting that keeps it "all in the family," Ralph Macchio's daughter Julia Macchio, joins the ensemble.

A Room of My Own is a bawdy, authentic piece of American Theatre that has some critics comparing it to the works of both Neil Simon and Norman Lear for its funny, no holds barred depiction of a working class family surviving tough times together.

The limited run is Sept 22 through Oct 16 only.
