Center Stage Theatre in Shelton will present “Rent” July 12-28.
Set in the East Village of New York City and based loosely on Puccini's La Boheme, Jonathan Larson's RENT is about falling in love, finding your voice and living for today. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, RENT has become a pop cultural phenomenon. with songs that rock and a story that resonates with audiences of all ages.
This annual summer production features high school and college aged actors ages 14-23. This run will feature two casts of ensembles (red cast and blue cast) that will split the performances, as well as three understudy performances.

Center Stage Theatre is an inclusive and intergenerational community-based theatre providing high quality and affordable performances, educational programming, volunteer opportunities and community collaborations. Located in Shelton, Connecticut, the theatre produces five full scale productions a year including its annual summer musical featuring high school and college aged actors, as well as year-round theatre education for students grades K-12, summer camps and limited-run special events. Celebrating its 19th season in 2024, Center Stage Theatre is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization attracting actors, crew members and audiences from throughout Connecticut and was named “Best Community Theater” by Connecticut Magazine’s “Best of CT 2022” round-up.
