Cleveland Play House Previews PRIVATE LIVES, WORKING, DA VINCI CODE, ANNIE
Get a first look at the four productions rounding out the theatre's upcoming lineup.
Cleveland Play House posted four preview videos spotlighting the productions anchoring its upcoming season, giving audiences an early look at PRIVATE LIVES, WORKING: A MUSICAL, THE DA VINCI CODE and ANNIE. The four clips, all shared by the theatre's own channel, span the range of the season's programming, from classic comedy of manners to a large-scale musical adaptation and a stage thriller, before closing out with a beloved family favorite.
The first video previews Noel Coward's PRIVATE LIVES, running October 24 through November 22, 2026. The production follows the well-worn but durable premise of divorced spouses who wind up honeymooning with their new partners on adjacent hotel balconies, a setup the theatre describes as a story where "love is as intoxicating as a well-mixed cocktail...and twice as dangerous." Coward's comedy has been making the rounds on regional stages recently, including a production at Guthrie Theater earlier this year.
The second clip turns to WORKING: A MUSICAL, set for April 3 through May 2, 2027. Based on Studs Terkel's portrait of the American workforce, the Cleveland Play House staging is framed as a distinctly local telling, described in the preview as infusing the show "with a distinctly Cleveland feel, rich with soul, grit, humor, and pride." The production moves through settings from factory floors to classrooms, set to a score blending folk, rock and popular music.
A third preview introduces THE DA VINCI CODE, adapted for the stage and scheduled for January 30 through February 21, 2027. The clip teases the stage version of Dan Brown's thriller, which follows a murder inside the Louvre that sends its central pair chasing clues embedded in Leonardo da Vinci's work across Europe. The fourth video covers ANNIE, running November 28 through December 27, 2026, previewing the rags-to-riches musical built around songs including "Tomorrow," "Easy Street" and "It's the Hard-Knock Life."
Together, the four previews outline a season that moves from intimate comedy to civic-minded musical theatre to page-turning suspense and holiday-friendly spectacle, giving Cleveland audiences a broad first look at what the Play House has planned across the next several months.
