ASSISTANT DIRECTOR/STAGE MANAGER/HOUSING SUPERVISOR
FOR SUMMER MUSICAL THEATRE TRAINING PROGRAM
Off-Broadway’s York Theatre Company is offering a unique, New York City opportunity, for an up-and-coming musical theatre director, non-equity stage manager, or performer.
The York Theatre’s Musical Theatre Training Program is offering a summer intensive for middle and high school students from July 9-27, 2018. We are looking for someone (21 years or older) with a keen interest in musical theatre to serve as an assistant director/stage manager for the program as well as to be the housing supervisor for some of our students staying in dorms in Brooklyn.
Applicants should have knowledge of musical theatre as well as have great people and organizational skills. Stage Management responsibilities will include being in rehearsals on a daily basis assisting the director and stage managing the show – including helping to gather material, organizing the script, supervising the performers, facilitating rehearsals and calling the show. Housing Supervisor responsibilities will include those roles usually associated with Resident Assistant in a college dormitory – overseeing all students 16 years of age and younger, being on call for emergencies, offering guidance and advice to help our students feel more comfortable in New York City and becoming adjusted to dorm life.
The York Theatre will supply a single-occupancy room in an established, safe, educational housing apartment building with full amenities – (https://yorktheatre.org/training/mttp-housing).
We offer a stipend for the entire period for all responsibilities. The chosen applicant would have to be in New York City from July 8th through July 28th.
Please send resume, letter of intent, and two letters of recommendation to mttp@yorktheatre.org.
