YouTube Contest To Be Presented During The May Festival

YouTube Contest To Be Presented During The May Festival Image The Cincinnati May Festival is seeking talented area musicians who perform a diverse array of genres to take part in "Sing Hallelujah!," a special one-night-only performance on Sunday, May 20 at the beautifully renovated Music Hall. Auditions for musical performers of all types and genres can submit video auditions through Friday, April 20, 2018, via YouTube.

Audition guidelines and information are available on the May Festival website, mayfestival.com.

"This is quite literally open to all types of music and musicians," said 2018 May Festival Creative Partner Dr. Rollo Dilworth. "Whether you sing rock, country, R&B, gospel, funk, folk or love to rap, we are looking for soloists, instrumentalists, small ensembles, large choirs, and everything in between. The only prerequisite in the desire to share your talents with the Cincinnati community."

The "Sing Hallelujah!" concert is part of this year's May Festival and explores the expression "Hallelujah" - a word common to all cultures, races, and philosophies. This special event is free and open to the public.

Selected musical acts will be informed before the end of April of the opportunity to perform during the concert at Music Hall.

Any questions about this event or auditioning should be directed to Matthew Swanson, May Festival Director of Special Projects, at mswanson@mayfestival.com.

The May Festival, featuring the May Festival Chorus and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO), is programmed to inspire audiences with fresh collaborations while also drawing on its rich tradition as Cincinnati's longest running arts organization. Cincinnati's Music Hall, which re-opened in October 2017 after a $143 million renovation, was originally built for the May Festival in 1878.

This year's Festival is from May 18 to May 26 and also features one-night-only performances of the Verdi Requiem, Bernstein's Mass, Handel's Messiah and more.
