Six high school students are forced into the world of standardized testing. What does it mean to be of National Merit status? What is the cost of toiling for this title? Who even gets to achieve it? With humor and heart, Valen-Marie Santoss new play National Merit scrutinizes academic achievement, socioeconomic privilege, and racial injustice within a private school setting. BoHo is thrilled to partner once again with Northwestern University to present this in-development reading from an up-and-coming playwright.

Boho Theatre Begins Search For Next Executive Director
October 05, 2022BoHo Theatre's Executive Director, Sana Selemon, has announced she will be stepping down from her position in March of 2023. Sana first performed with the company in 2018 in BoHo's production of 110 IN THE SHADE, and then again in BoHo's 2019 production of BIG FISH. Selemon then became a Company Member before taking over as Executive Director in August of 2020. BoHo's Board of Directors and Company Members have begun a search to find BoHo's next Executive Director.
BoHo Theatre to Present World Premiere of NATIONAL MERIT This Month
August 03, 2022BoHo Theatre will kick off its first mainstage production of 2022, NATIONAL MERIT, a world premiere play by up-and-coming playwright and Northwestern University graduate, Valen-Marie Santos, directed by BoHo Artistic Associate, Enrico Spada. The show will fun August 25 – September 25, 2022.
Artistic Director Stephen Schellhardt to Exit BoHo Theatre at End of 2021 Season
September 17, 2021BoHo Theatre’s Artistic Director Stephen Schellhardt has announced that he will step down from the position at the end of the 2021 season. Schellhardt first joined the company in 2015 and took over as Artistic Director in 2019.
BoHo Theatre Announces Series Of Virtual Play Readings
March 16, 2021BoHo Theatre, now in its 17th season, will present a series of play readings via Zoom in lieu of in-person live performances, given the continued uncertainty about safety of live performance during the COVID pandemic. The reading series, called “In the Wings,” will feature four plays under consideration for full productions in future seasons. The theme for the reading series is “An Exploration of Truth.”
