This milestone event celebrates both the 75th anniversary of Elgin Community College and the 30th anniversary of the ECC Arts Center. The award-winning Elgin Symphony Orchestra (ESO) is one of the pre-eminent regional orchestras in the United States, led by Music Director Chad Goodman. Since its founding in 1950, ESO has developed a reputation for artistic excellence, and innovative programming, as demonstrated by its long history of highlighting the works of world-renowned conductors, composers, and musicians, and promoting the advancement of women in the arts. The historic tradition of mariachi music originated in cities such as Guadalajara and Mexico City. As the ever-evolving genre’s influence spread, it reached Chicago and birthed the Mariachi Herencia de Mexico. The energetic, virtuosic two-time Latin GRAMMY-nominated has issued five chart-topping albums and performed all across the North American continent, paving the way for a new generation of mariachi musicians and continuing to garner widespread acclaim. This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council.
ECC Arts Center is at 1700 Spartan Drive, Building H, Elgin, IL.
