Homage to Yves Mathieu’s Cabaret Lapin Agile at PianoForte Chicago

Part I-solo piano by Jean Claude Orfali;

Part II- a potpourri of Paris in songs

Jean-Claude Orfali is a favorite of PianoForte Chicago’s owner Thomas Zoells for good reason. His ability to create infinite variations of musical themes, the delightful technique of embellishment and emotion, have captured his audiences from Paris to Montréal, Cairo to Chicago. A longtime principal pianist at the Lapin Agile, he will begin our evening of homage to Yves Mathieu, the late owner of the Cabaret Lapin Agile.

The Lapin Agile is the oldest extant cabaret room in Paris, the birthplace of cabaret as a gathering place for musicians and artists. Veterans of the Cabaret Connexion have had the privilege of performing at the Lapin Agile since 2017, joining the ongoing late-nights of song and camaraderie. Tonight we celebrate the family legacy carried on by Yves Mathieu and his sons Frederic and Vincent with more songs and a short video montage by Christine Steyer and Jean-Claude Orfali. LIVESTREAM will be available.
