Gee's Bend, written by Elyzabeth Gregory Wilder and directed by Tim Rhoze, follows the Pettway women — Alice, her daughters Nella and Sadie, and Sadie's husband Macon — from 1939 to 2002 as they navigate segregation, family strife, and the Civil Rights movement in the isolated community of Gee's Bend, Alabama. Throughout their lives, the women's quilts serve as both refuge and chronicle, ultimately gaining recognition as celebrated folk art. The cast features Toccara Castleman, Jasmine Robertson, Kaitlyn Fields, and Rashun Carter. Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre presents this production at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center in Evanston, with previews beginning May 23, 2026.
