420 Frankenstein at de Maat Studio Theatre at The Second City

420 Frankenstein is the world premiere production from 420 Shakespeare, Chicago's cannabis-themed classical theater company, marking the company's first production outside the Shakespeare canon. Four professional actors perform a comedic adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, with one cast member having consumed a cannabis edible prior to each show, ensuring no two performances are alike. The production combines scripted source material with live improvisation and audience interaction. Creator and producer Jay Krien founded 420 Shakespeare in 2024, following earlier productions including Chekhov's Bong! and Baked Hamlet.
