Explore the power of friendship at the Flat Rock Playhouse this spring in Charlotte's Web! Auditions will be held at the Education Building located at 1855 Little River Road in Flat Rock on Friday, Jan. 10th and Saturday, Jan. 11th. Participants from all experience levels are welcome, from the young to the young at heart, rookies or seasoned veterans. Roles are both human and animal characters. Take a break from the frenzy of everyday life and enjoy Smoke on the Mountain, a wholesome celebration of faith, community, and Appalachian Music. Set in Mount Pleasant, North Carolina around 1938, Smoke on the Mountain brings to life a small-town musical revival featuring the traveling Sanders Family as they play the best of bluegrass, gospel, and hymns. Audiences will recognize beloved songs such as “Rock of Ages”, “The Church in the Wildwood”, “A Wonderful Time Up There,” and more as they are performed by talented actor-musicians. Running October 4th - 19th, Smoke on the Mountain, showcases the power of music to bring us all together and will have audiences singing along.

Flat Rock Playhouse rounds out its 2019 Season with a rich yet bare-bones comedy, Rounding Third, starring FRP favorites Scott Treadway and JP Sarro. This good-humored story is about an entrenched Little League Head Coach meeting his new rookie Assistant Coach as they take their new team - humorously played by the audience - from the draft to the championship game.

Single tickets are now available for the Flat Rock Playhouse 2019 Season of live theatre celebrating love, family and adventure. Known locally as Little Broadway in the Mountains, the Playhouse has showcased professional performances since 1952 with unparalleled quality. This season is no exception, as 61 equity actors and 16 equity-bound apprentices, as well as a host of union designers and technicians, gather at the Rock to delight audiences and continue the tradition of Broadway-quality theater.
