2015-16 Touchstone Apprentices to Present Fresh Voices Showcase

?York Little Theatre, now named The Belmont Theatre, will present the classic Rodgers & Hammerstein's THE KING & I, a musical on the main stage, June 17-19 & 23-26. It is 1862 in Siam when an English widow and her young son arrive at the Royal Palace in Bangkok, to serve as tutor to the king's many children and wives.  With both keeping a firm grip on their respective traditions and values, they both grow to understand and respect one another in a truly unique love story.  The classic musical includes well known favorites including "Whistle A Happy Tune," "Getting To Know You,"  "We Kiss In A Shadow," "Something Wonderful," and the show stopping "Shall We Dance," to name a few.

Set in nearby Bucks County, the production comes to EPAC after a successful run on Broadway and several awards, including a 2013 Tony Award for Best Play.

DreamWrights Center for Community Arts has been in the business of providing arts education since its inception, nearly twenty years ago. Part of DreamWrights' mission of offering ongoing arts educating of all ages is accomplished through the use of Guest Directors. DreamWrights provides an inviting environment for directors to work with a variety of individuals as a team to create an outstanding, complete production. Through mentorship, apprenticeship, and cooperative learning, DreamWrights provides opportunities for aspiring and developing directors to hone their craft. In turn, the use of different directors allows the actors, crew, designers and staff to experience various styles, inviting them to learn to work with many people. Even the experience of the audience is enhanced as they get to experience and enjoy the vision of different people as well.
