Skidmore College Presents PILGRIMS OF THE NIGHT, 10/20-24

By:

The Skidmore College Department of Theater is pleased to announce its Fall 2011 Black Box production, PILGRIMS OF THE NIGHT by Len Jenkin, directed by Alma Becker. Performances are Thursday, October 20th and Friday, October 21st at 8:00PM, Saturday, October 22nd at 2:00PM and 8:00PM, Sunday, October 22nd at 2:00PM only, and Monday, October 23rd and Tuesday, October 24th at 7:00PM at the Janet Kinghorn Bernhard Theater.

PILGRIMS OF THE NIGHT is set at a ferry landing on a stormy night. A rag-tag group of strangers
arrive and to pass the time each one tells or invents a story. Each story gets stranger and stranger. In Jenkin's personal style, this play revolves around a group of people in an extreme situation. In addition to being bizarre and funny, the play is also tender and wise.

From Director Alma Becker: "I am thrilled to direct my second Len Jenkin play at Skidmore. Jenkin is a master storyteller with a theatrical flare for the quirky and scintillating stories that rest in our American imagination. He mixes comedy and pathos, strangeness and the mundane to create this thought provoking, high-energy entertainment. The pilgrims of the title are all searchers for something missing in their lives. During the stormy night they share in a ferry terminal in the far north, the pilgrims discover their common need for love, connection, fulfillment and a longing for
adventure."

Seating is very limited, so reservations are a must! Call the Skidmore Theater Box Office at (518) 580- 5439 or email boxoffice@skidmore.edu. Tickets are $12 general admission and $8 for students and senior citizens. For group sales, contact Kathy Mendenhall at (518) 580-5431 or kmendenh@skidmore.edu.
