Winnebago

Camp Winnebago is a boys' residential summer camp founded in 1919 on Echo Lake in Fayette, Maine, now owned and directed by third-generation director Andy Lilienthal. The camp deliberately stays small at roughly 150 campers so staff know every camper, and it centers on a seven-week program, with four-week session options also offered. Programming combines land and water sports, arts and wilderness experiences, including multi-day canoe and hiking trips to the Appalachian Trail, the Allagash, Mount Tumbledown and Mount Katahdin. Camp is technology-free with no smartphones, social media or video games, campers wear uniforms, and cabins are built without electricity or bathrooms as part of a simple-living philosophy. Winnebago is accredited by the American Camp Association and a member of Maine Summer Camps; a winter office operates in South Portland, Maine.
