The Shawnee Playhouse, a historic theater established in 1904 in Shawnee on Delaware, Pennsylvania, runs the Shawnee Theatrical Arts Resource School (S.T.A.R.S.) summer camp program. Camps introduce children to many aspects of theatre through stage movement, dance, music, art, creative games, role-play and scene study, with campers also learning acting, theatre etiquette, terminology, costuming and makeup. Each week has its own theme, generally reflecting the shows produced during the summer season, and ends with a staged production by the campers; public performances are ticketed. Camps run 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily, snacks are provided and campers bring a lunch. Camp size is limited. The program is overseen by executive director Midge McClosky, who created S.T.A.R.S., and is staffed with a camp director and summer interns. Registration for the 2026 season is open.
Snacks are provided and campers pack a lunch. Camp size is limited. Paperwork and schedule details are emailed two weeks before each camp begins. Camps mirror the shows produced during the summer season and end with a staged production; tickets must be purchased for public performances.
