Camp IVRT

Camp IVRT is the summer youth program of Inland Valley Repertory Theatre, a nonprofit regional theatre company that performs in Claremont, La Verne and Rancho Cucamonga, California. Open to students in grades 2 through 8, the camp meets Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Claremont Community School of Music and runs roughly five weeks from mid-June to late July. Students learn the basics of acting, singing and movement in an encouraging atmosphere built around improvisational games, and gain skills for auditioning at local theatres. Extracurricular instruction covers Shakespeare, directing, makeup, mask-making, stage combat, set construction, costumes, props and lighting. The first three one-week sessions are skills-based workshops; the concluding two-week Performance Camp has campers write original plays with a local playwright, then audition, rehearse and perform them.

For youth in grades 2-8. Classes meet Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at the Claremont Community School of Music. Camp runs about five weeks from mid-June to late July; the first weeks are skills-based workshops and the final weeks are a performance camp. Enrollment in at least one one-week session (or past Camp IVRT participation) is a prerequisite for the Performance Camp, which ends with a performance Friday, July 31, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the University of La Verne and includes a T-shirt, script and DVD.
