An array of Broadway legends, as well as a host of up-and-coming players, will come together for a gender- bending concert featuring show tune favorites on Monday, February 4, 2008. "Broadway Backwards 3" (BB3) will showcase a diverse cast of male singers performing songs traditionally performed by female singers, and vice versa, with all proceeds benefiting the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender (LGBT) Community Center in New York City.
The star-studded cast of BB3 includes Neil Patrick Harris (TV's "How I Met Your Mother," Assassins, Cabaret); Tony Award Winner Gary Beach (The Producers); Tony Award Nominees Charles Busch (Die Mommie Die), Nancy Dussault (TV's "Too Close For Comfort," Into the Woods) and Malcolm Gets (Amour); Cheyenne Jackson (Xanadu, All Shook Up); Tituss Burgess (The Little Mermaid, Jersey Boys); David Burtka (Gypsy); Tastiskank (Broadway duo of Kate Reinders and Sarah Litzsinger); and a bevy of other performers. For two years, the theatre community has demonstrated its support for the Center with this one-night-only, star-studded Broadway benefit concert. The evening features classic show tunes with a twist‹in past years Andrea Burns delivered a tender rendition of "Maria" from West Side Story and Tony-Award nominee Michael McElroy sang "One Night Only" from Dreamgirls. Matt Cavenaugh and Cheyenne Jackson¹s performance of "We Kiss in a Shadow" was named Best Dynamic Duet of 2006 by Playbill."Broadway Backwards 3" benefiting the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center is Monday, February 4, 2008 at 8-10PM at American Airlines Theatre (227 West 42nd Street, New York)
