According to Deadline.com, writer-producer team Zack Estrin and Jane Espsenson have joined the proposed Once Upon a Time spin-off for ABC from series creators Eddy Kitsis and ADAM HOROWITZ. The spin-off will reportedly be set in Wonderland and will be told from Alice's point of view, featuring several new characters.

Kitsis and Horowitz are currently writing a four-scene presentation with help from the new writers, with production set to begin next month after Once Upon A Time's season finale.

As BWW previously reported, the new series will introduce three new characters, including a young British girl Alice, who is described as "tough but kind-hearted," the "soulful" Amahl - a Middle Eastern man with an optimistic outlook on life, and the charming adventurer The Knave - described as "a loner and a heartbreaker."

While The Mad Hatter is expected to appear in the spinoff's pilot shooting next month, no details have emerged as far as who will portray the iconic Lewis Carroll character.

Once Upon a Time airs on Sundays at 8/7c on ABC.
