The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Mercy star Taylor Schilling will team up with Zac Efron in The Lucky One on the big screen. Based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, The Lucky One centers on a U.S. marine (played by Efron) who is fixated on a photograph of a woman he does not know, attributing his survival of three tours of duty in Iraq to this keepsake.  Upon returning home, he sets out to search for the face in the photograph (Schilling).

According to the report, Abbie Cornish and Katie Cassidy were also in the running for the coveted role of the woman in the photograph.

Scott Hicks (Shine, Hearts in Atlantis) directs the flick, which goes into production this fall.  The film is being produced by Denise Di Novi and Langley Park's Kevin McCormick. Di Novi's Alison Greenspan serves as executive producer.

Efron, who became an international star after appearing in Disney's High School Musical movies, stars in another drama out in theaters, Charlie St. Cloud

In addition to her work on Mercy, Schilling will soon be seen in the upcoming film adaptation of Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged as Dagny Taggart.
