The New York Post's Page Six reports exclusively that Willie Geist , co-anchor or NBC's TODAY, will host the network's revamped Sunday edition of the show.

A high-level executive tells the paper, "The show will start in early April and will still be 'Sunday Today,' but will be more thoughtful and reflective in tone, in fitting with the Sunday morning shows. Even though we are in an election year, Willie's new show won't be all politics. It is going to cover pop culture and social trends, but it's built around Willie's unique voice and take on the issues."

Geist will continue his hosting duties on Today and MSNBC's "Morning Joe." Ironically, the newsman will be competing against his father, Bill Geist, a correspondent for "CBS Sunday Morning" since 1987. The source comments, "In a way he is following in his father's footsteps."

The current weekend edition of the NBC morning show includes Erica Hill, Sheinelle Jones and Dylan Dreyer. They are expected to continue to helm the Saturday edition of the show.

A representative for NBC's TODAY has declined to comment on the report.
